So you’re not the same as other agencies then….?

As part of the meetings we have with teachers before we are able to recommend them to schools, we often spend some time talking to them about 49 Thirty Two as a company and what drives us to do what we do and the way that we do it. As a result, we thought we would outline it as well in a blog which might be helpful to some in getting to know about us a bit more..

We are a group of international educators (although I always prefer ‘teachers’) who felt that recruitment was changing in the teaching profession. Colleagues are far less happy to send CVs and letters to schools, (often without any reply in return) and schools themselves were often overwhelmed with the sheer number of applications that came in from all over the world after an initial advert, meaning that managing vacancies became a full time job for a number of weeks every year and often wasn’t done as well as it might be for perfectly understandable reasons.

This is where we felt there was an opportunity to support our profession, as a company working on a not for profit basis….

What do we believe in? Well, we hope that our conviction that teachers are the most important people that work in schools has been born out in our meetings and communications with the hundreds of colleagues we have met and spoken to.  It means that we treat teachers with the respect they deserve and that we don’t treat them like commodities or numbers on a spreadsheet. We talk to them about teaching as much as anything else and we know that great teachers are as varied and different as the children they teach.

We also think it anathema to charge teachers looking for a post for our services so we don’t. And won’t. Ever.

As for schools, we talk to them, find out what they need and try to get them staff that really fit what they are looking for. Again, the focus for us is to find the right colleague for the school but it not cost them the earth. We believe that schools should spend most of their money on the people that matter most: students and teachers. If we can give them a shortlist of staff that they can then interview after having being interviewed and recommended by an experienced international Head or Senior leader from 49 Thirty Two, then that gives that school leadership both extra expertise as well as extra capacity to support their work which can’t be too bad…

For the future? We will continue to grow and develop our way of recruiting teachers for schools and hope that the way we do things will also continue to gain fans in the teaching profession all over the world.

We hope you’ll agree that we are doing something that is a little different but something that can only help in supporting teachers and schools in the best possible way.

As for our name? 49 Thirty Two? Many have asked us but perhaps you’ll allow us a little mystery amidst all the above transparency!!! 😊

Best to you all and happy lessons.
