Helping teachers start a fire…

Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire

  -William Butler Yeats

I am writing to say hello to all those potential colleagues who may well be thinking of working with us here at 49 Thirty two in terms of finding a new post abroad.

It’s probably worth saying a little more on how we like to work with teachers and other school colleagues and the quotation above from the wonderful William Butler Yeats perhaps gives the right context. He of course says it best, but we believe that teachers and those staff that work with them are the most important resource a school has. I believed that when I started teaching thirty years ago and I still believe it now after almost 15 years as an International Head. My belief in educators is twofold, firstly that they deserve to be treated properly in how they are supported but also in my trust in the professionalism they should always show in their role. So what does this mean when you contact 49 Thirty two? Well, we have excellent relationships with schools all over the world and look for those staff that can light those fires in young people. We can answer any questions you may have about different countries, schools and packages but we will always look to have a clear, honest conversation about where we might find you a positon and what you can expect.  Some of you may be more qualified or experienced that others and yes, that may well affect where we can find you work, but if we remember Yeats’ words when dealing with potential colleagues (and we do) then you can trust us to treat you with care given the enormous potential you have in yet undiscovered schools to light new fires….
